about the artist

Biography

I am grown woman now and a photographer, it has taken me a long time to get here. At one time, I was a five year old girl by my grandfather’s side, learning photography, feeling lucky to be in the darkroom. Photography picked me, perhaps due to genetics, definitely to my grandfather’s influence and teaching. My parents attempted to persuade me otherwise. My grandfather was a very dedicated to his art, which means he spent for more time roaming with his cameras or in the darkroom than he did with his family.

For many reasons, there have been dissuasions, delays and interruptions. There has also been the constant force or my love for art and photography and the support of key people. After spending a year studying biology at the University of Southern California USC, I signed up for a photography class at the local community college. Because of one professor’s encouragement, I applied for and was accepted at ART CENTER COLLEGE of DESIGN to study photography.

After School, I began my career, as well as my family. Within a year I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. I spent many years fighting for my health and caring for my son. My life as a photographer waited. But there came a time when I felt stronger and ables. My son grew up. The people who loved me, my husband, my son and some very good friends encouraged me to return to photography and that has made all the difference.

Today I am combining my LOVE of birds and my Art. It has taken me a long time to get here. I am excited. I am happy. My journey is my work. Look for it.
